Philip V. Señora
CEO, Siargao Bounty Seafoods Corporation
Someone once said, a team is not just a group of people who work together, but a group who trust each other. In Siargao Bounty Seafoods Corporation, there is plenty of this camaraderie and trust that is palpable in the 1000 sqm seafood manufacturing plant in Minglanilla, Cebu.
Starting with “buy-and-sell, Mr. Philip “Bimboy” V. Senora II with his wife, Ms. Liza embarked on an entrepreneurial journey by sourcing fresh fish and seafood products and selling them to their neighbors and workplace. With persistence and perseverance, the business evolved and ventured into supplying the major retail supermarkets in Cebu City under the business name Philmarine in 2006 until 2010. Seeing the immense opportunity, increasing demand of fish and other marine products Bimboy made a huge decision and slowly shifted from trading and toll packing to manufacturing and exporting.
With determination and prayer, Siargao Bounty Seafoods Corporation registered with DTI, remained steadfast and unwavering in the risky business of exporting fresh and frozen abalone, octopus, scallops, and giant squid to South Korea in 2016. Orders came in and the business went well with 35 employees. When the pandemic hit, the company had grown into 160 strong workforce. The surge of orders was an opportunity for Siargao Bounty Seafoods Corporation to expand in San Fernando, Cebu to produce value-added products from fish, marine and seafoods and soon ventured into meat and poultry. This has and will generate employment in the countryside.
Diligently active and engaged in the operations, Sir Bimboy regularly meets his team leaders and department heads to gain comments, insights, reviews of their products and generate feedback from customers for continued improvement. Believing that the epitome of providing high-quality seafood products relies on the dedication, passion and trust from each one in the company, Sir Bimboy ensures that everyone is heard and recognized. Empowering his employees by conducting coaching and mentoring sessions, delegating assignments for community extension programs and recognizing exemplary employees and bestowing rewarding vacations abroad and exposure programs such as participation in international expos and exhibits are his sustainability investments for his team members.
Beyond the boardroom, Bimboy is an active advocate for community welfare, serving as the current president of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles – Sugbu Hermanos. His leadership has propelled the organization to conduct various humanitarian activities, including fundraising initiatives for children with cancer, in collaboration with local organizations.
Recognizing the pivotal role of continuous learning for personal and professional growth, Bimboy actively engages in forums and dialogues that impact business operations. His dedication is evident in his completion of the Mentor-Me- Program provided by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and the Cebu Chamber underscoring his commitment to staying abreast of industry trends and best practices which he is also imparted to his team members to stay ahead.
