The Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) successfully held its annual bowling tournament on November 15, 2023 at SM City Cebu Bowling Center. Drawing participation from 11 esteemed companies, the event not only showcased friendly competition but also served as a poignant testament to the resilience and unity of the local business community following the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The spirited lineup of teams included Coinspect Philippines, Inc., CLI Premier Hotel International Incorporated – Citadines, Systems Variable Technicom, Incorporated, PLDT, Ludo and Luym Corporation, GT Cosmetics Manufacturing, OPASCOR, Plantation Bay, San Miguel Brewery Incorporated, and Dusit Thani Mactan Cebu Resort. The diverse composition of players, hailing from various business tier, added a dynamic flair to the tournament, featuring decision-makers, executive officers, managers, and staff, all converging on the lanes with enthusiasm.
The bowling competition was a strategic initiative by CCCI to foster collaboration within the business sector. Moreover, it provided a unique platform for business leaders and visionaries to network, exchange ideas, and strengthen professional bonds — a crucial need, especially in the post-pandemic era where the importance of community and collaboration has taken center stage.
In a riveting display of skill and sportsmanship, PLDT Inc emerged triumphant, clinching the championship award. San Miguel Brewery, Inc secured the first runner-up position, closely followed by Opascor in second place, and Ludo & Luym Corporation claiming the honorable third position.
Highlighting individual excellence, Mr. Vlademar Calero of Ludo & Luym Corporation showcased remarkable prowess, earning the title of the highest individual scorer in the male category. Meanwhile, the female category saw outstanding performance from Mr. Glicer Melior of the Opascor Team, securing the highest individual scorer accolade.
The annual bowling tournament is one of the many sports activities the Chamber organizes to foster camaraderie and fellowship between and among members. As the local economy continues to recover, CCCI remains committed to organizing such events that not only promote friendly competition but also strengthen linkages, synergy and contribute to the growth and connectivity of businesses in the region.
