“bù pà màn jiù pà tíng (不怕慢就怕停) “Be not afraid of growing slowly, be afraid only of standing still,” Ms. Shannen Keisha Tan’s favorite Chinese proverb which implies it is alright to be afraid of not achieving results right away because one must work one part at a time, slowly and steadily, and not stand still.
In 2017, 27-year-old Shannen became the founding President and CEO of a home-grown hotel and needed to set aside some priorities for a while.
Soon after graduating as Magna Cum Laude in Bachelor of Science in Accountancy from the University of San Carlos, Ms. Shannen Kiesha Tan run the Royal Henda International Inc., (RHII) to develop the 10-storey Mezzo Hotel with 151 rooms and 35 units of residential suites located in F. Cabahug St, Cebu City.
Since May 2017, Mezzo Hotel under her leadership positioned itself as a Cebuano-owned company investing in the hospitality industry by catering to a booming tourism and MICE -meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibit). Mezzo also gained grounds among long staying non-Cebuano guests, or Expats for its unique service.
Committed to grow professionally, Ms. Shannen immersed herself in diverse fields and business ventures, showcasing her versatility and dedication to learn, adopt and mold her own niche in the business world.
A Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and astute business leader, Ms. Shannen has etched an indelible mark in the realms of finance, entrepreneurship and academia paving the way for the remarkable and sustained growth and development of Mezzo Hotel.
Mezzo Hotel is currently the only home-grown hotel that attained ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System certification painstakingly achieved during the pandemic. Together with her 90 associates, Ms. Shannen has built a name in the competitive hospitality sector in Cebu. She has recently announced expansion projects in Mactan and Bohol.
Beyond Mezzo, Ms. Shannen wears multiple hats. She serves as the President of El Bueno Food Inc., as Vice President of Everise Global Development Corporation, as Managing Owner of Quickclean Laundry Services amidst these enterprises is a part-time faculty member of the University of San Carlos. Nonetheless, she maintains quality time for her family and carves out a special time for herself.
She continues to impact professional societies and leadership organizations earning her prestigious positions and notable accolades, including the Presidential Service Award. Shannen’s captivating oratory skills have graced renowned platforms such as the 8th International Conference on Business and Economy in April 2023, a Reflection Speaker for Strategic Leadership and Decision Making at Prometheus Academy in August 2023, making her a sought-after speaker in conferences and academic symposiums, including the International Conference on Business and Economy. It is wisdom graciously and powerfully shared by one so young and based on solid experience and background!
