His Excellency Dr. Andreas Michael Pfaffernoschke, the German Ambassador to the Philippines, made a significant visit to a FISH Visayas Project site in Brgy. Bangbang, Cordova, Cebu on September 14, 2023. This visit marked a milestone in the project’s Phase 2 implementation and emphasized the role of the Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) in driving sustainable prosperity.
The FISH Visayas Project, which stands for Fostering Inclusive and Sustainable Habitats, is a joint effort between CCCI and the AFOS Foundation for Entrepreneurial Development, an international non-governmental organization headquartered in Germany. This initiative is aimed at promoting sustainable fisheries and related food value chains in Central Visayas.
The project implementation in Cordova focuses on supporting fisherfolks, fish processors and fish vendors which include but not limited to empowering women in the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprise (MSMEs) in Central Visayas, contributing to the economic development in the region which drew the participation of nearly 200 fisherfolk, civic organizations, government bureaus, and various associations, collectively standing as a testament to the unity and collaboration that define this vital cause
The Ambassador’s visit underscored the commitment of the German Embassy to the AFOS Foundation and its future projects. Dr. Pfaffernoschke expressed interest in exploring additional project sites in line with Germany’s foreign policy on development cooperation, focused on poverty alleviation and improving living conditions.
CCCI plays a pivotal role in implementing FISH Visayas Phase 2, underlining CCCI’s unwavering commitment in driving Cebu to becoming an economic powerhouse, poised for global competitiveness.
