First mall-based Wellness Center inaugurated in Cebu through CCCI, DOH-CVCHD, CSMC, FPFCC, and RAFI partnership

“A healthy Cebu is a competitive Cebu.”

Cebu marked a milestone in accessible healthcare with the inauguration of its first mall-based Wellness Center on December 16, 2025, at Gaisano Capital SRP. The initiative was made possible through a strategic Public–Private Partnership (PPP) involving the Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI), the Department of Health–Central Visayas Center for Health Development (DOH-CVCHD), Cebu South Medical Center (CSMC), First Pacific Fortune Commercial Corporation (FPFCC), and the Ramon Aboitiz Foundation Inc. (RAFI).

The project reflects a growing recognition that healthcare access is a key enabler of a productive workforce and resilient communities—cornerstones of sustainable economic growth.

Situated on the mall’s second floor, the Wellness Center is designed to bring primary and urgent healthcare services closer to where people already are. Its location in a high-foot-traffic commercial space allows workers, shoppers, and families to seamlessly integrate health consultations into their daily routines, making preventive care more accessible and practical.

“The wellness center is very appropriate, especially for our tatays and nanays who visit the mall,” said Dr. Joshua G. Brillantes, Regional Director of DOH-7. “The mall serves as an all-in-one destination, and if they are feeling unwell or have a scheduled wellness or physical check-up, they can simply take the escalator and proceed directly to the wellness center.”

Now fully operational, the Wellness Center offers a range of services, including health promotion activities, health talks and counseling, physical assessments, Teleskedyul and Telekonsulta assistance, and HIV testing and counseling.

According to Dr. Brillantes, the initiative supports the broader realization of Universal Health Care by ensuring that health services are accessible, affordable, and of quality for all Filipinos—especially in everyday spaces frequented by the public.

In his message of support, CCCI Champion for Health and Wellness Stanley Uang reaffirmed the Chamber’s commitment to advancing health-centered initiatives under its LEAD A-MUST Agenda. “CCCI has always championed programs that enhance quality of life while driving economic resilience. Health, after all, is foundational to productivity, tourism, MICE development, and investment growth. A healthy Cebu is a competitive Cebu,” he said.

The inauguration program featured a blessing, ribbon-cutting ceremony, and a guided tour of the facility showcasing its equipment and service areas.

As the first of its kind in Cebu, the Gaisano Capital SRP Wellness Center represents a significant step forward in healthcare delivery—demonstrating how collaboration between government, business, and civil society can generate solutions that strengthen both community well-being and regional competitiveness.
