13 companies from various food industries in Cebu attended the Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) training on August 30-31 at Hotel Elizabeth, Cebu City.
The HACCP training is a systematic approach to food safety that helps identify, evaluate, and control potential hazards in food production processes – a critical aspect of ensuring the safety and quality of food products.
The training introduces companies to the proper procedures, from the basics to the most advanced techniques, to ensure food safety, ensuring that every process is duly accounted for in line with food production and manufacturing standards.
Throughout the course of this two-day event, attendees gained valuable insights into the scope of HACCP, including guidelines for product description, and delved into the identification of various hazard types – biological, chemical, or physical that can compromise food safety if left unaddressed.
With the intricacies of food safety, participants also delved into evaluation procedures such as the critical stages in production that need control measures in order to eliminate or minimize hazards. Importantly, the HACCP training transcended regulatory compliance, aiming to align food manufacturers with international food safety standards, thereby unlocking access to global markets.
The training was facilitated by Mr. James Bondal, a renowned food safety consultant and industry expert in food technology, product development, and risk management. Mr. Bondal is recognized by the Food Safety Preventive Controls Alliance.
With the HACCP training as a solid foundation, the dedication of these 13 companies to continuous improvement in food safety practices not only benefits their own operations but also contributes to the overall safety and well-being of consumers in the region and beyond.
