ICT& LIFE SKILLS TRAINING FOR SOLO MOTHERS SUMMIT: A CELEBRATION OF HOPE, CONFIDENCE & OPTIMISM

To formally conclude the implementation of the ICT & Life Skills Training for Solo Mothers in the Island of Cebu Project, the Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry conducted the Solo Mothers’ Summit on June 15 (Wednesday), 2PM, via online platform, Zoom.

Designed to provide a constellation of information, resources, mentorship, motivation and a strong network of support to single mothers of all walks of life and most importantly to celebrate another milestone in the journey with the project partners and enablers, the summit was graced by the New Zealand Embassy, His Excellency Ambassador Peter Kell and the President of Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mr. Charles Kenneth Co.

With the strong support and commitment from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (MFAT) and the New Zealand Embassy Manila through His Excellency Ambassador Peter Kell, the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) Region 7 and 8 offices, the Local Government Units of Naga City, Balamban, Bantayan, Cordova, Cebu City and the CCCI Chamber Chapters, the project has upskilled 152 solo mothers from five (5) strategic sites in the field of ICT and life skills to develop self-confidence, cooperative and communicative attitudes and abilities which will prepare them to take quick action in any unfavorable circumstances.

One of the highlights was the featured life-changing stories and thematic learning testimonials of Ms. FRUCTOSA S. NIERE of Naga City, Ms. ALMA DUNGOG of Cordova, Ms. LEE KRYSTLE M. SILVA of Cebu City, Ms. REJELL L. TUPAZ of Balamban, and Ms. FEBBIE ROSE SAMSON of Bantayan.

As evidence of learning, the graduates were given the opportunity to demonstrate their skills and talents by undertaking various roles during the summit. An empowered Solo Mother from City of Naga, Ms. Rhodora Canceran opened the summit with a beautiful prayer which was followed by an inspiring message from another winner solo mother from Bantayan, Ms. Regina Sabuero. Moreover, Ms. Joy Therese Baguio from Cordova acknowledged the partners and guests. Ms. Dobby Jane Pabayos from Balamban closed the ceremony with a moving message of becoming the best version of oneself as a solo mother. Ms. Lorabelle Jimeno of Cebu City was the master of ceremony.
