Philippine Span Asia Carrier Corp: Sailing Towards Excellence and Service

As the Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) prepares to mark its remarkable 120-year journey, anticipation brews for an evening that promises to honor the pioneers and pillars of the region’s business landscape. Among the esteemed awardees set to be recognized at the upcoming Gala Night is the trailblazing Philippine Span Asia Carrier Corp (PSACC) set to receive the prestigious “Captain of Industry – Shipping Commercial” award.

The story of PSACC harks back to the visionary beginnings of its founder, Don Sulpicio Go. Embarking on his entrepreneurial journey as a copra trader, Go identified an opportunity to not only stimulate economic progress but also foster connectivity between urban centers and remote islands within the Philippines through the avenue of shipping. His initiative led to the establishment of Sulpicio Lines, Inc. in 1973, initially comprising a modest fleet of 17 ships that were strategically deployed across tertiary and developing routes.

With its expansive container yard in Cebu, PSACC has not only redefined shipping standards but also epitomized operational excellence and efficiency. The company’s unwavering dedication to delivering value to its partners and customers has become a hallmark of its service.

Through the establishment of the largest shipping fleet and container yard in Cebu, PSACC has played an integral role in shaping the region’s maritime landscape, exerting a significant influence on local trade and the broader national economy.

Under the guidance of its founder and subsequent generational leaders, PSACC has undergone a remarkable transformation. From its modest beginnings, the company has burgeoned into a well-structured family enterprise and emerged as one of the foremost domestic shipping and container companies in the Philippines. Its fleet expansion and substantial gross tonnage stand as testament to its growth trajectory and operational prowess.

The forthcoming award to be conferred upon PSACC, signifies the company’s pivotal role in upholding Cebu’s traditional standing as a crucial entrepot within the Philippine archipelago. Notably, the company’s significant contribution to the maritime domain, including its extensive fleet operations and substantial gross tonnage, has set the gold standard for contemporary and sizeable sea vessels.

Along with other captains of industry who shaped the business landscape of Cebu, CCCI is set to honor the PSACC on December 6 at Nustar Convention Center, SRP, Cebu City.
