GET TO KNOW THE CANDIDATES TO THE 2023 CCCI ELECTION: SECTORAL

Elections are a time to consider the issues that you care about and decide which candidate you support.

Since its inception and until now, the Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry is strongly advocating on the lowered cost and ease of doing business in Cebu to create an enabling ecosystem so business will thrive and prosper.

Now on its 120th year as the voice of business, the Chamber continued to select and elect unanimously time and time again leaders to various prominent positions of influence to further the chamber’s interest. This year’s election will be conducted online in partnership with Isla Lipana, a PwC company.

For Sectoral, only one (1) vote is needed.

Below are the official candidates to the Sectoral.

ESPELETA, VIRGILIO “NONOY”

Virgilio “Nonoy” Espeleta, a prominent business leader and entrepreneur in Cebu, Philippines, has left an indelible mark in the business world through his dynamic and holistic approach to corporate strategy and governance. With a background in Chemical Engineering, he has leveraged his expertise to found FAMCOR Consultants & Associates in 2010, which has since become a sought-after consulting firm for family-run enterprises.

As the founder and president of FAMCOR, Nonoy has played a critical role in crafting and implementing sustainable business roadmaps that balance the family dynamics and corporate governance systems. He has been an influential figure in managing or providing guidance to family corporations in conflict prevention, professionalization, succession planning, and family board governance.

As a senior experts’ regional representative for PUM Netherlands, Nonoy has been actively involved in helping entrepreneurs, including Chamber members and MSMEs, navigate the challenges posed by the pandemic. He has been a key player in advocating for the creation of value and prosperity for mission-driven firms and MSMEs and has partnered with the Department of Trade and Industry, Phil Center for Entrepreneurship (Go Negosyo), and the PUM Netherland Senior Experts.

In addition to his work with FAMCOR, Nonoy has served as the President of the Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Inc. (2019) and has been a member of the Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry since 2013. As the Chairman of the RDC7 Economic Development Committee, he has played a critical role in converging the programs of regional government line agencies to achieve the midterm regional development plan. He has also been instrumental in catalyzing joint positions of various business organizations and civil society to influence local government units and regional line agencies in the economic resurgence agenda.

Nonoy is a full ADB Scholar and holds a Master’s degree in Business Management from the Asian Institute of Management, where he has also taught as an adjunct professor. He co-developed Go-Negosyo’s 10-module KMME program and acts as the Visayas Coordinator and Lead Mentor in the Kapatid MentorMe Program. He has received numerous awards and recognitions for his contributions to the business world, including The Asia HRD Award 2019 in the “Mover and Shaker Category.”

As a covenant disciple of Bukas Loob sa Diyos, a Catholic charismatic renewal group, Nonoy has a strong conviction that business is a vocation and a calling. He believes that business is an opportunity to evangelize the workplace, to serve God and country, and to imbibe servant-leadership and stewardship in wealth creation for the benefit of mankind.

His contributions have left a lasting impact on CCCI and the business community and have inspired others to strive for excellence in their respective fields.


WENCESLAO, JACQUELINE P.

Jacqueline Wenceslao is a certified public accountant with over 30 years of solid experience in the field of insurance broking, risk management, and finance. Fondly called Jackie by her friends and peers, her passion for crafting insurance solutions for all types of businesses, big and small, corporate and personal, has earned her the respect and admiration of her peers in the industry.

After starting her career with a top audit firm in the country, she gained valuable experience in banking, investment, and manufacturing before becoming a professor of Accountancy in a local university. She rose up the ranks as an insurance broker with Anscor Insurance Brokers and held management positions with Jardine Aboitiz Insurance Brokers before co-founding PhilPacific Insurance Brokers and Managers, Inc. in the year 2000.

As Director and Executive Vice President of PhilPacific, she supervises the Visayas and Mindanao operations and assists in building strong relationships and collaborations with partners to successfully execute new business and provide consultative support. Her exposures to international risk consulting and insurance advisory through her stints with top multinational insurance brokers had served well to provide her clients with international perspectives on how to deal with risks.

Beyond her professional persona, Jackie is a doting grandmother to three adorable grandsons aged 1, 3, and 4. She is the mother of three accomplished children and wife to businessman and entrepreneur Nigel Wenceslao. Her active involvement in various organizations, such as the Financial Executives Institute of Cebu, Cebu Insurers Club, and Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry, shows her commitment to improving the industry and helping the community.

Wenceslao is an epitome of a modern woman who embodies resilience, expertise, and compassion. Her leadership in the insurance and finance industry is a testament to her dedication to helping businesses and individuals through CCCI in managing risks and achieving their goals.
